Mixed Bag #2

The following collection of pictures is a fairly random one. I have
come across some of them recently, and I realized that they deserved a place on ryansitzman.com. Some of them are even from quite a few years ago, so who knows
what might be on this page? I think that when I started ryansitzman.com, I was
only experimenting a bit with pictures, and I realized that there were many that
I had left out. So, I hope you like them.

Here is my nephew, Maikol. Yep, he's got grillz.

My niece Yoselin. Yep, grillz, also.

Here is Yoselin being restrained from the water by Angela's
mom. The five of us went to Jaco beach at the beginning of the year.

Angela's mom Cecilia and Yoselin. Costa Rican mothers:
overprotective, but loving.

Angela and I at the beach.

Angela will probably kill me for putting up this picture, but
it is evidence that she has what I like to call "Mr. Burns Hands." I'm not sure
why, but this seems to be the default position for her hands.

Angela's mom under a big guard station (without lifeguard).

My sister Diana. Di came to visit in January because she
wanted to pick coffee. We did so for about three days, and she took home a good
harvest.

Angela displaying her angelic nature.

Yoselin displaying her alien nature.

The Virgin of Something statue on the dashboard of my
father-in-law's car.

Yoselin helped us pick coffee.

Di with Maikol and Yoselin, with the day's pick.

I'm not sure why I think this is so funny (OK, I guess I am
sure), but this is a brand of bathroom air freshener that is popular here.

Here in Berlin, there are a few other Americans, and one of
them is Lee. This is his in-progress house. It's really cool, and it's got an
unbeatable view.

The church in Sarchi, where we stopped with Di.

Playa Esterillos, one of my favorite beaches ever. It had
really wide stretches of sand, and I could walk a half hour without seeing
another person. And this was only 15 minutes from the tourist trap of Jaco!

The hotel where Angela and I stayed in Esterillos. Really
nice.

These are (obviously) old pictures of me when I was a little
kid. My mom sent them to Angela because Angela was curious about what I looked
like when I was a little tyke. As you can see, at least I was cute at one stage
in my life.

Another old picture from the archives. This is me, driving the
Buff Bus, with the staff of a veterinary clinic where I used to volunteer. Get
on the bus!

A nice picture of Angela and me that my brother Paul took in
Seattle.

Here I am when I got my wings.

The lovey cake that Angela made for me on my birthday.

Cutting said cake with my Good Luck Machete.

A little turtle-shaped empanada that Angela's sister Toni made
for me.

Here I am at my friend Chris' apartment in Philly (Chris isn't
pictured). With me are my buddy Josh, and our gnomes Norm and Bjorn. Don't
believe the bullshit; our gnome pictures predated both Travelocity and that
French Amalie movie.

On that same trip to Philly to visit my buddy Chris in 2005,
he and I went up to Montreal to see if they really speak French there. They do.
On the way, we stopped in Albany to visit our friend Miss Thang and crash on her
couches. With her is her husband Mike and their dog Nanook.

This is from Quebec. They really do speak French in Canada.

Here's Chris in Montreal.

One of my favorite famous (or infamous) Halloween costumes:
Sitz-Man, a superhero for the rest of us. Pictured with me is my friend Katie.

Speaking of Katie, when we were visiting her parents in
Washington one time, we went to Canon Beach in Oregon and I took this pretty
photo.

This is from quite a few years ago, but I still like it. On
the left is my old roommate Julien, with his mom Grzyna. Grzyna is eating her
first burrito (she's Belgian), so it was a monumental day that required a
fitting vista: Boulder's majestic Flatirons.

This picture is, to me, everything that is great about
Boulder.

Another odd picture: me in the back of Andy Parson's van. He
was going to go to Rockford, Illinois to visit his family and take home a big
couch. He was taking our mutual friend Zach, and said that there wasn't enough
room for me, unless I could get the couch to fit in the back. Well, I Tetris-ed
it out and got it to fit in. It was a great trip, and I got to see Chicago.
Thanks, Andy!

On a random trip to Breckenridge, I decided to kick my friend
Chris in the ass.

Here I am clicking my heels in Breckenridge, although it looks
like I was skateboarding off that railing.

The haunting eyes of "Hotel Rwanda's" Don Cheadle. This poster
was in Bobby's room in Erlangen. This, as well as some of the following
pictures, are from my Eurotrip in 2005. I know there's already a ryansitzman.com
page dedicated to this very event, but since I was still testing the waters at
the time, I only put up a dozen or so pictures from that trip. So, here are some
more that I enjoyed:

A church in Bamberg, Germany.

Bobby in Bamberg, Germany. Bobby's awesome.

The skyscrapers of Frankfurt, Germany. Moments later, it began
to pour and I got soaked.

Bobby and I in front the New Town Hall in Hannover, Germany.

Some urinals in Bremen.

Chris and Bobby at a Biergarten in Munich.

The roof of the Pinakotek der Moderne, a museum in Munich.

Some blue posts marking a bike path outside of Hannover,
Germany.

My friend Tori with a field of Rapeseed (Or, as it is
euphemistically known, Canola).

Copenhagen's RÄdhusplatsen at night.

Nyhavn, Copenhagen's "New Harbor."

A cow-painted Mini Cooper in Copenhagen.

Some weird posters in Christiana, Copenhagen. I'm not sure if
this is Charles Manson, Benny from ABBA, or "Other."

A house in Kagerup, Denmark, where my "aunt" Grethe and
"uncle" Aspee live. It's like a little fairyland.

Here I am demonstrating an old-fashioned diving bell at a ship
museum in Stockholm.

A sculpture/manhole cover in Stockholm.

Urinals fit for a mayor: the men's room at Stockholm's
picturesque Town Hall.

Grethe and I, putting each other in a headlock, apparently.

A warning sign at the Hamburg main station.

Calling on 304: The entrance to the building where I used to
live in Regensburg, Germany.

He's got the crazy eyes! I think I may have put up this
picture before, but it deserves another look. My friend Annie took it, and I
like it a lot.

My friend Clara in Berlin (the one in Germany, not the podunk
one where I live in Costa Rica), doing what she does best: talking on her cell
phone.
Now, these next three pictures were actually taken by my
brother Paul in 2006. I went to Switzerland with him, my sister Di, and my mom.
So, even though they're his pictures, I thought they were pretty funny and
wanted to share them:

Paul found this stenciled piece on a bus stop, I believe.

This has a backstory. See, we were talking about meth addicts,
as in people that are addicted to methamphetamines. But, my mom misunderstood
and thought we said "math addicts," so we were giving her a hard time. Paul even
drew this picture.

Another stenciled thing that Paul came across. That particular
Swiss street did indeed smell like shit, I believe.

And finally, here I am with my cousin and God-daughter
Kiersten. She's a real dear, and I'm probably saying something sarcastic and
mean in this picture, like, "If you don't eat all your vegetables, you'll get
deported."
Anyhow, that's it for the Mixed Bag #2. Hope you enjoyed them
as much as I did!
